Why is CPR so important?

Your child falls down some stairs. Your niece chokes on some food. You see someone at the bottom of a swimming pool. Your partner suffers a bad cut or burn. A friend collapses clutching their chest on the golf course.  Accidents and illnesses happen every day.

Could you help?

One of the biggest fears most people have when approaching the scene of any accident or an emergency is that they will do something wrong and make a mistake.  This fear can prevent them from reacting and helping and possibly saving a life.

Why is prompt action so important?
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation can double the chance of a person's survival when they are in cardiac arrest
  • About a third of heart attack victims die before reaching hospital because they go into cardiac arrest. Performing CPR can buy vital extra minutes and keep them alive until paramedics arrive
  • Less than 4 % of the population have first aid training  or know how to perform CPR
  • Do you know the Emergency Services phone number in Murcia and know how long they will take to arrive?

There is a serious lack of first aid skills and knowledge which impacts on many people in their own homes and throughout their day-to-day activities.  Emergency services are relied on to such an extent that they are over-stretched and in some circumstances unable to respond as quickly as everyone would like. We are not trying to scare but the tragic thing is that most cardiac arrests happen at home, so if you are ever with someone who needs CPR; it's quite likely to be a family member or a loved one.

Would you know what to do?
At EFR first aid we are committed to providing a training experience that truly helps eliminate natural fears and instils the confidence to "take action in an emergency".

EFR first aid was established with one overriding objective, to provide high quality, relevant and professionally delivered training courses which build rescuer confidence to provide care when faced with a medical emergency.  Students learn and practice the same patient care techniques and principles used by medical professionals in a relaxed and non-stressful learning environment.  Students are also given as much practice as necessary to master and retain these skills.

Please look through the information on the courses we offer and if you are interested in learning CPR and First Aid then click here to contact us.

Remember that learning CPR and other lifesaving skills may take only a few hours but they could be the most valuable hours you ever spend.
