What are our CPR & First Aid course options?

Courses
Our courses, covering adult and child CPR and first aid skills are based on seeing, hearing and doing, and performance based. with a continuous assessment process,  The main emphasis is aimed at "hands on" patient care to build confidence in your abilities. All of our training programmes internationally recognised and accredited.

The courses can be taught individually or in groups of up to 4. We can conduct courses here on site or in your own home. They are flexible in design and can be arranged to suit your available time.  You can read the workbook and watch the DVD in your own home at your convenience prior to the "hands on" practical elements in class.  We use responsive and life like mannequins to help you to perfect the correct method of performing CPR and choking management.

The Care for Children course is highly recommended for any new parent, grand parent, caregiver or person who works with infants and children. The Care for Children course is an innovative CPR and First Aid training course that teaches participants how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children (ages one to eight) and infants (less than one year old). Participants learn about the types of medical emergencies that children face, and how they differ from adult conditions. The Course also includes the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects of caring for children, secondary care for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children. The course also emphasizes the value of prevention of accidents and injuries and looks for ways to reduce the risk in and around the home.

Course duration
All EFR first aid courses are performance based, not time based. Individual course times typically vary based on:
  • Number of participants
  • Participant ability to meet the prescribed objectives
  • Instructor-to-student ratios

The following times are typical, based on a class size of 4:
  • Adult Primary Care (CPR) - 4 to 6 hours>
  • Adult Secondary Care (First Aid) - 2 to 3 hours
  • Care for Children integrated Primary and Secondary Care - 6 to 9 Hours

All of our courses concentrate on providing a training experience that truly helps eliminate natural fears and instil the confidence to "take Action in an emergency" through "hands on" sessions and scenario practice.  Participants have 2 options; you can either receive a Certificate of Course Attendance or take the optional exam which consists of multi choice questions. On successful exam completion the participant receives a formal Emergency First Response qualification.  The exam is a requirement of the Accreditation Bodies.
